BIOGRAPHY
I aim to raise the awareness of gardening to public school parents, and non-gardening youth. I
attempted to show the youth in these paintings beaming with confidence and pride. Many expressed
satisfaction in their way. Yet, they all express a grand sense of pride in their nurturing goal.
My paintings are 30''x40'' and 36x48 inches. I tried to create a sense of space, to give viewers
the feeling of standing in the garden with the youth. Also, allowing viewing from other areas of the
room. The kids are not models, but youth who like to garden. All children can be good gardeners.
The colors in my palette reflect the harvesting seasons of the vegetables. The Collard Greens,
and other Green topped vegetables lend towards cool blues or grays. While, tomatoes and
carrots are in warm earth tones of yellows and reds. Together these value moods created a Fall
harvesting atmosphere. I used the wet on wet technique and dry brush effect in this
painting series.
My goal is to reach the youth less likely to be interested in gardening and bring
positive awareness for others.
